Seismic

Tools Used: Refraction Tomography, Reflection seismic, Multi-Spectral Analysis of Surface Waves (MASW), Spatial Autocorrelation (SPAC), VS30

Seismic methods investigate subsurface elastic properties. We use energy introduced into the subsurface to determine where contrasts in these elastic properties occur and through a series of processing steps are able to glean a number of insights into the subsurface. Seismic imaging offers many advantages when it comes to details of the subsurface, especially deeper targets.

Some Applications:

  • Estimating depth to bedrock

  • Void identification

  • Fault location

  • Estimating material properties such as rippability and stiffness

  • Subsurface velocity profiles (and inferred corresponding soil properties) needed for earthquake and loading analysis
